December 12th Japanese Language Day at the Zoo
Tables were set up throughout the zoo in front of animal exhibits and presentations in Japanese were given by students from a number of high schools in language Levels 3, 4, & 5. Patrick Henry High students had the responsibility of sharing information in the Rainforest Area.   Students in language Levels 1 & 2 listened to the talks in Japanese about animals and their environments and had their "passports" signed at each station by the upper level language students. We also watched a traditional performance by members of the MU Daiko Group, a Japanese taiko drumming group. A scrumptious, traditional lunch was catered by the Sakura Restaurant.  Congratulations to Ms. Thompson and Ms. Shiba, PHHS instructors. Congratulations to PHHS students! And a special “thank you” to the relatives and PHHS graduates who were the chaperones!
