As the Patriot Wrestling team enters their final week of the regular season, we have many wrestlers working very hard to prepare themselves for a trip to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament. The achieve this honor, a wrestler much place first or second at their individual weight class. The Patriots have been moved to Region 7A this season. Most of teams in this region are located 1 1/2 hours north of Henry and we know very little about the competition that we will be facing except for the fact that there are some very good teams. The promising thing is that they know very little about us as well. We will take our young team up north with a lot to prove about our program. I'm very confident that our competition will be underestimating the strength of our program and we will be successful in our efforts to show our talents. The Patriots we be lead into action by some of our strongest individual wrestlers that we have had for several years.

Capitan Kelsey Bocek (jr) will take his team leading record of 24-8 into the region tournament at the weight class of 220 LBS.
Some other wrestlers looking to capture trips to the State Tournament are Shaheem Dukes(Jr) 22-11, Yasir Shabazz(Jr) 19-11 and ChueShee Vang(So)17-9.

One more exciting wrestler to watch for came to the Patriot team mid-season as a senior and first year wrestler. He has worked very hard on his development and has had a very good season to this point. Tyshel Bonner has quickly become a leader in our wrestling room with his accomplishments. Tyshel has a current record of 12 wins with only 3 losses. The 3 losses came very early in his season and since then he has dominated his Unlike our other wrestlers, Tyshel understands that being a senior this year he will have just one opportunity to secure his trip to the big show. With this motivation, I would not like to be a wrestler facing him in any upcoming matches. He will surely be giving his full effort in every match.

Yasir Shabazz '13 and Tyshel Bonner '12 were undefeated in at the Fridley Totino Grace High School Wrestling Invitational on Thursday, February 2nd.  After defeating their hosts from Totino, both went on to score victories over opponents from Fridley and Washburn.  Henry finished second in the tournament.

The coaching staff is very proud of our wrestlers this season. And with many of oue talented wrestlers returning next season, the future looks very promising.
