Welcome IB History of the Americas-Year 2 and Economics students!
A little bit about me: I grew up in Milwaukee, WI a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. At Rufus King High School I took several IB classes like many of my students at Patrick Henry including IB Theater, IB History, and IB English. Luckily, I ended up earning a high-enough score in English to get college credit at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. After studying history and Latin American Studies for several years, I graduated from the U of M in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts.
I served two years as an Americorps volunteer at Picacho Middle School in Las Cruces, NM and at Sumner Library in Minneapolis. During that time I figured out that I wanted to pursue a career in teaching social studies. I began my first teaching job in 2003 at Franklin Middle School and then came to Henry in the fall of 2005. While I didn't take any economics classes in college, I soon discovered that I LOVED to teach the subject. To this day, it is my favorite thing to teach. I've also been teaching IB History of the Americas since 2008 (for the entire Obama administration!).
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, walking, tennis, biking and binging on the latest fun Netflix series. This summer, I watched "Stranger Things." Of course, I love to spend time with my wife Kim, and our two kids, Sam and Max.
