You Are Invited To "PHocusing on Our Success" June 4th

MINNEAPOLIS – The Patrick Henry High School community on June 4 will recognize accomplishments while honoring graduates of the class of 2015. The event, called “PHocusing on Our Success,” will celebrate some of the school’s notable achievements from the 2014-15 school year.

“We’re proud that Patrick Henry High School is making a significant impact on student learning and helping students achieve and excel,” said Principal Latanya Daniels. “Graduation is our standard as we work to prepare students for college, career and life.”

Henry’s notable achievements include earning a Reward School designation from the Minnesota Department of Education for the second year in a row. Reward Schools are the top 15 percent of Title I schools statewide based on the Multiple Measurements Rating (MMR). They represent the highest-performing schools on the four domains in the MMR, which annually measures school performance in the areas of proficiency, growth, achievement gap reduction and graduation rates.

Henry’s graduation rate of 86 percent, which is tied for first among all MPS high schools, will also be recognized at the celebration, as will the school’s third-place rank statewide on U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of best high schools in Minnesota.  Another achievement that will be highlighted is Henry’s receipt of a Spotlight Initiative Grant for $100,000 from Target and Greater Twin Cities United Way. The school was one of 10 Twin Cities schools selected to receive funding supporting work to close the achievement gap.

In addition, Henry is a leader among MPS in achievement gap-closing categories. Henry earned MPS’ highest score on the MMR and also holds MPS’ highest Focus Rating (FR), an additional state standard used to measure a school’s success in reducing achievement gaps between student groups. Henry ranked second overall in MPS for student math growth.
