Patrick Henry is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Candidate school, pursuing full authorization as part of our commitment to high-quality, rigorous, internationally minded education. The IB MYP serves all of our 9th and 10th grade students and complements the IB Diploma Programme already in place at Patrick Henry for over 20 years.
At the end of their sophomore year students can choose from three educational programs:
Liberal Arts College Preparatory Program provides a well rounded academic experience which focuses on social issues and the individual's relationship to the community through an interdisciplinary and project-based curriculums.
Project Lead the Way is an interactive, hands-on approach that leads students to careers in science, technology and math (STEM) by use of professional engineering software and the ability to earn college credits by examination. There are several extracurricular activities that support the STEM field, i.e. Robotics (5th place finish out of 54 schools in a five state competition in March, 2008), and the Free Greek Society.
International Baccalaureate challenges students to high levels of achievement in a highly structured program by offering a four-year, pre-college course of study for students who are academically motivated and want a rigorous, internationally recognized program. Many schools are now trying to get this rigorous college preparatory program. We've had it for over 20 years.
