International Baccalaureate Program

Program Overview:
The International Baccalaureate program at Patrick Henry High School offers a rich and challenging experience for students.  Throughout a student's four years of study in the program, students experience:

English courses that provide extensive training and experience in the study of literary analysis whereby students develop skills in the areas of oral presentation, formal academic writing and critical evaluation.

Social studies courses that engage the student in the study of Geography, World History and United States History, all of which culminates in an in-depth study of the history of the Americas.  Through these courses, students strengthen their skills in written analysis and oral presentation.

Theory of Knowledge, an interdisciplinary course intended to stimulate critical reflection upon the knowledge and experience gained inside and outside the classroom.  This course, known as TOK, unifies the academic subjects and encourages appreciation of other cultural perspectives.

Diploma Program classes that are generally two-years in length, support both depth and breadth of content knowledge and skill development as well as preparation for the IB exams administered in May.
