We Have Amazing Staff!
Our CTE teachers work with our students to meet their needs, attend to their career interests and inspire them to excel.

Patrick Henry High School proudly offers the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP, formerly called the IB Career-related Certificate or IBCC) to our students.  This unique and exciting opportunity for our 11th and 12th grade students brings together the mission, vision and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate with our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) - Engineering and Digital Media programs, creating an educational experience that is flexible to attend to individual student needs and

The IBCP at PHHS is coordinated by Kazuko Shiba, PHHS Japanese language teacher in partnership with David Sylvestre, PHHS PLTW Program Coordinator and CTE teacher.  You can find Ms. Shiba in Room #214. You can also email Kazuko Shiba at kazuko.shiba@mpls.k12.mn.us to

History of the IBCP at Patrick Henry High School

In December 2009, Patrick Henry High School received an invitation from the International Baccalaureate Organization and Project Lead the Way to pilot the IB Career-Related Certificate, citing the strengths of both our IB Diploma Programme and our Project Lead the Way program.  We happily accepted, becoming one of 20 pilots to develop the IBCC in advance of it being offered to all IB World Schools.  Through work supported by our students, families, staff, district colleagues, community and business partners and the IBO,

we created our IBCC and earned authorization to offer the option in July 2012.  To develop this programme, we employed our students as "Senior Build Teams" to take the elements of the IBCC for a test-drive, giving us feedback along the way so that we could offer a programme that truly meets the needs and interests of the individual student enrolled in the programme.

credit for successful completion of our Digital Media courses, we have the framework in place to add a Digital Media pathway to our portfolio of academic offerings.  The most recent additions to our Digital Media coursework are a 3D Graphics, Animation and Motion class and Adobe InDesign.  Together, these capstone courses for seniors in the pathway prepare students to become an Adobe Certified Associate. We expect the Class of 2017 to be our first cohort of students to complete the requirements of the IBCP in our Digital Media pathway, providing yet another challenging and fulfilling academic experience for our Patriots.
