May 1 and 4: No Contact for Distance Learning

The Minnesota Department of Education has declared Friday, May 1 and Monday, May 4 as planning days for school districts to provide educators additional time for delivering Distance Learning. MDE has launched webinars to assist districts in their Distance Learning planning.

 See the full schedule of webinars and instructions on how to register is available here. Note: You must register for each webinar. Sessions are limited to 1000, but the system will create a wait list. If you are waitlisted, MDE will provide the same webinar at a later date and time.

Incoming 9th Grade Registration Information

We are offering an OPTIONAL virtual event for our incoming 9th grade students to help register for fall classes.  This information and the tools will be available on Thursday, April 23rd. You will see several helpful links to help you with this process. After you've had a chance to watch our instruction video and review the documents, we will offer a live stream of the process along with a Q&A with Counselors on April 23rd from 1:00-2:00pm to help answer any remaining questions and to support families with the digital registration process. If you are selecting to complete the registration process at home, we are asking that you complete the 8th Grade Registration Form no later than Monday April 27th. If you are unable to complete the registration process online, our staff will reach out to your to assist in selecting classes. Chromebook Distribution for PHHS Students Fri. 4/24

All PHHS students who do not yet have an MPS Chromebook now have an opportunity to pick up a Chromebook!

Location:
MPS Transportation Building, 1001 2nd Avenue N, Minneapolis 55405
Friday, April 24th 12:00 pm- 5:00 pm.

Bring:
Student ID or any documentation that the student is enrolled at Patrick Henry High School.
Families will be asked to remain in vehicles. Staff will check the Student ID and put the Chromebook in the vehicles trunk. For people arriving by bus or on foot, please stay on the sidewalk and staff will give you the Chromebook in a manner consistent with safe social distancing practices.

MPS Gap Funds For Housing

Stable Homes Stable Schools (SHSS) is being expanded to all MPS elementary (K5-K8) to support eviction prevention. This is an emergency expansion which includes $1 million for families who have lost income due to COVID-19. The window to apply for funds is Wednesday, 4/22 - Monday, 4/27. The details are being shared with school social workers and can also be found here. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Charlotte Kinzley, Homeless/Highly Mobile Manager.

Distance Learning Begins Monday, April 6th

Please note that while MPS school buildings will be closed at least until May 4, learning will continue starting Monday, April 6. At that time, students will be doing schoolwork with paper-based packets or online. Either way, this is what MPS calls Distance Learning and students will be interacting with teachers our each week. For students working with the paper packets, please know these are different than the enrichment activity packets you may have received when schools were first closed. Watch this video to learn more about what to expect with Distance Learning. Students don'r forget to log into your google classroom. Access Teacher Websites now to log in!

Graduation Information

Please join us in celebrating the Class of 2020!

Graduation is on Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m. Family and friends can view the ceremony live at this link. Interpreted versions of graduation are also available in Hmong, Somali and Spanish at this link. 

Recordings will be available to view the next day on MPS Channel 15 and Eduvision.
