Spring Sports Preview: Baseball With Tom Swanson for April 11th

Give us your baseball bio:
Tom Swanson started playing baseball in fourth grade with a friend of his. He wanted something fun to keep him busy during the summer and figured it was a good way to meet new friends as well! Tom is now a senior at Patrick Henry playing for the team.

What do you see as your team's greatest strengths this season?
Tom says that the team knows each other pretty well and that really helps the team to work well with one another. He also says they have some good juniors this year who are stepping up to the plate and helping to improve the team.

How did your team fare in competition last year and what are you expecting this year?
Last year the baseball team did pretty well and had some good seniors. This year Tom thinks the team should do well. They have a nice young team with some promising players.

Greatest competitors in conference?
According to Tom, their greatest competitors are South and Southwest and the teams they play well against and compete the best with are Washburn and Roosevelt.

Tell us about your coaches
Our coaches are Mr. Bloomquist, Mr. Wilson, and Mr. Wicker. Tom says they are all really cool and very good at teaching the team. The coaches are also good at motivating the team and keeping their spirits up, which Tom says is very helpful during the tough times.

What's next for Tom Swanson?
Tom is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stout for engineering after graduation. Tom is currently a part of the Robotics team who just recently the team won The Regional Chairman’s Award at the Minneapolis 10,000 Lakes Tournament. This is “FIRST’s most prestigious award, it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST. By winning this award they can now compete at Nationals in St Louis at the end of April.
