Step Up Applications are live! Due Feb. 18th

The application for Step Up Summer Internships is now available 

Step Up connects young people in Minneapolis with paid summer career experiences that can’t be found anywhere else. Through Step Up, students earn money, gain real job experience and explore great careers. Students can also get academic credit towards high school! Step Up also helps young people gain confidence and connects youth adult professionals. Students who meet the eligibility criteria, you are encouraged to apply by February 18th. Eligibility Criteria

  • Be 14-21 years old by June 1, 2022

  • Be eligible to work in the U.S. by June 1, 2022

  • Not be in college (PSEO is OK)

  • Live in the city of Minneapolis, and

  • Meet family income guidelines or other criteria


Step Up is offering two pathways for paid summer career development opportunities

Paid in-person and remote summer internships, and a paid summer online Career Exploration Program for all participants who complete their assigned training and are not matched to an internship.  


  • Level 1 interns (14 or 15 years old by June 1, 2022) will be paid $12.75/hr

  • Level 2 interns (16-21 years old by June 1, 2022) will be paid at least $15/hr.

  • All participants – regardless of age – who complete the summer Career Exploration Program and are not matched to an internship can earn up to $600 and earn 0.25 elective academic high school credits.


Step Up Application support at Henry

On Tuesday, January 18th and Tuesday, February 8th, our Step Up rep, Ikram Mohamud, will be in the CCC during advisory and in all lunches to assist students in completing the application and to answer any questions. Although Step Up is a part of AchieveMpls, it operates separately but in coordination with our CCC. Our CCC coordinators to do not have access to up to date application records so please connect with Step Up directly.
